Bookmark Or Subscribe?

All a question within all, bookmark or subscribe? And do you think this question means? It means I am asking whether you would think your blog would be honored more by someone subscribing or bookmarking your blog. Most of you would reply, “subscribing, of course.” Lets find out what they are.

Subscribing- This is a way someone can read your blog, or read your content without visiting your blog. It is also like subscribing to a magazine, where the magazine will come to you every so often. I know you all know what subscribing is, but it adds a little more “tang” if I explain it. So when someone subscribes, it is a great honor it seems. So in the view of the blogger, subscribing is great. Now let’s look at it in the eye of the reader. Reading a blog I like to visit the site, so I can comment, see any updates, and maybe find more interesting content on that site. When I subscribe it is OK, but I rarely visit Google reader. I do read my email frequently where I will see the blog post, but most likely I will follow a link to the post itself.

Bookmarking- Bookmarking someone’s site allows you to easily access that site. So, I am the blogger, and somebody bookmarks my site, I don’t know. I don’t know that they have bookmarked me. As the reader, I feel like the blogger should be honored for me to have bookmarked them, because I only have a few bookmarks. Also as the reader, everyday I will go through my bookmarks one by one to stay updated on the blog.

The bottom line- Both bookmarks and subscriptions can be valued, but usually subscriptions are valued more because people can be “judged” or “rated” that way.

Now it is time for you to cast your vote and we will see which rules!

I can’t wait to see the outcome!
