MonkeyBlogger Challenge – Mission Impossible?
Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 14-07-2008
If you know anything recent about Monkey Blogger, then you know he is having a Monkey Blogger challenge. I myself am wondering how the challenge will work, and I am ready to give him tips if he needs.

About – The monkey behind Monkey Blogger is a friend Mark Cuda, and I have seen Monkey Blogger from it’s beginning days. It has been around since April, and surprisingly is still up. I am not exactly sure how I found it, though it might have been through Blog Premiere or TUK. At first I saw and thought Monkey Blogger to be very prosperous and thought it would do very well in the blogging world, though starting as a newbie blog, but what I thought this was turned out to be fulfilled by StandOut Blogger. Both have a very unique name, and have “blogger” in them, and maybe that is what makes them special. I don’t see how “Green Flamingo” doesn’t do as well, maybe it has to be “Green Flamingo Blogger” or “Flamingo Blogger” but is still unique. It turns out Monkey Blogger hit a few hard turns. We started seeing comments from Mark on less blogs, and less posts on BP. When the real trouble started was May 16th I believe, when he broke his right clavicle. After that there were some guest posts, including one by me, but in my eyes the blog completely fell apart. In June, Mark started up again with some short posts, and then started talking about the Monkey Blogger Challenge.
I am not sure the Monkey Blogger Challenge will be successful. He has lost a huge chunk of traffic from not writing. Fortunately for him people have stuck around long enough to still be there for Mark and support him. I hope his challenge is successful.
The Challenge – Mark’s challenge is this: “create a blog and sell it for $500 profit.” He is asking his readers to support this, by having it an adventure of his own and having his readers help with decisions. Here is his original post:
We are going to be having a lot of fun with this theme.
“Create a blog and sell if for $500 profit”
For this, we are going to have to go through a few steps to start up.
1. Pick a niche
2. Pick a name and domain
3. Set up blog, organize, custom, optimize
4. Start the content flow
5. Promote, promote, promote
6. Build lasting readerships
7. SELL THAT BAD BOY!
So to start off, we need a niche. A theme. A starting point.
I will be brainstorming and researching this a lot, and I’ll need your help in making final decisions. So in the comments of this post, I want you to leave your ideas regarding niche choice, and tomorrow I’ll be listing mine here. ![]()
On another note, at the end of the challenge, whoever brings this post the most traffic will get an amazing price.
So don’t make haste to post about it in your blogs! ![]()
I am not writing this post to get the amazing prize. I am posting about it because I am interested to see if he can make it. If this post catches attention, I will do another guiding him, which will sadly be for free.
Mark, if you are interested in tips I am happy to give them, just agree here or contact me.
So I am just wondering if Monkey Blogger will make it through the challenge. What do you think?

Sounds like a fun idea

@ Narendrasv – maybe you can sell it for more, but due to the huge chunk of traffic he’s lost I’m not sure it’ll be that easy. Now if he markets it well then it can easily happen.
@Melvin – I am hoping I might learn a bit about flipping blogs, I don’t think I am that great at raising a website quickly either. Read website flipping part 2 on here, maybe you can get some more information.
I am looking forward to see how he goes about doing this!

What determines the value of a blog anyway ? Is it based on gut feeling or objective advertising revenue ? Or something else ?
