Finally A Theme To Stay
Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 11-11-2008
I have been searching around for days, weeks, months, for a theme to keep for a while, for after the RedWhite theme crash I did not want it anymore. Hopefully, now I have a theme that I will keep for a while, because the colors in it are the ones I have been searching to find for more than half a year.
I hope everyone that is still active with Green Flamingo (probably not many) will appreciate this theme, and if you have any suggestions for it I will be happy to read them.
Going along with our topic of the month, which is motivation, can say that a new theme and the right theme can really motivate you. If you wake up every day and see your beautiful website looking shiny and sleek you will be encouraged to write and please your audience. Without a good theme then you may not see the satisfaction in your website and will not be easily swayed to write. And if you are changing themes constantly that will create a distraction, so I suggest you to stick with one theme for a while.
The energy of the theme can also effect how you feel and go about your blogging. In the past little “codes” have been determined based on the overall appearance and color scheme of your blog. It is said that red is an expressive color, but not the calm expressive, more of anger and boldness. Blues are more gentle, and dark mixed blues create a good personal blog while a blog with sleek blue will bring out a professional feel. Greens are not as common, but they are a mix of both, usually joyful and trying to get a point across. Blacks and whites just add to the drama, usually much white background representing business like approaches while black backgrounds are directed to personal blogs.
My theme is intesified by green, but I have parts of orange and black which I have looked forward to for a long time. They add “good stuff” to the mix, and the orange really contrasts against the green.
I have seen other blogs that contrast well, without overpowering anything. One of these is ironblogger.
I have also seen many site that blend well with their own stripes and shades of colors.
I hope that you can choose a theme that contrasts or blends well, because that can be important to a good theme, which has a path to motivation, which has a path to success!

I like your theme except for the fluro green background. It literally hurts my eyes and makes me want to leave your page as soon as possible. You need a darker softer green otherwise I and others will probably be deterred away from your website
That’s what we all say
I actually just redid IMBL & a few others with a “premium theme club” – 20 bucks and lots of really nice themes not many ppl are using
Though now that revolution themes are open source that’s pretty tempting too
@Ryan – I guess I understand your point, maybe if the checkers were not in it would help.
@Chelle – thanks for referring the premium theme club. I was tempted by the revolution themes – I downloaded a lot of them.
I agree with Ryan. The green is hurtful to the eye. But overall, the theme has a good feel. Congratulations in this new theme.
Head over to my blog, I’m having a blog extreme makeover contest that might caught your interest.
Riyannes last blog post..Teh Coolest Blog Contest!
I quite like the colours actually! I would just work on the header a bit.
Tom – StandOutBlogger.coms last blog post..Help Me Buy A Flip Mino! – Bid For My Adspots!
@Riyanne – yeah, maybe the green is a bit strong. By the way though what computer are you using, because I know some people on macs that don’t think it is that bright.
I will check out you makeover contest too
@ Tom – I agree, I think I should work on the header. I don’t like how the plain color green crosses over the orange strip. I will try to fix that.
