A Little Redirection

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 30-03-2009

A few weeks ago I was excited to develop this blog further, but I do not see much improvement in it. Basically I just maintain it but I have no revenue, but I do have networking with many others, and I guess that is what I hold on to. But I have also decided I have to move on a little and develop some new projects.

I am going to redo my interior design site, and see if I can get it well developed. Once I find a decent theme I can easily have a header and logo done and then get to content. I will also be conducting some research on materials and procedures of some newer and eco-friendly design styles.

I am also thinking about turning another domain I own into a forum, along with the main website. On the forum it will talk about different products, people can review them and chat about their experiences. I may have to add a little more, depends on how people join in. If that is not situated though within a month of starting time I may have to hold off and focus just on the design site.

As for green-flamingo, I will continue to maintain it as best I can, though now I am not aiming to post every day, but it might be 1-3 times a week, depending on content and how much time I have really. Guest posts will be excepted, for any of those who like to brand themselves, the site has PR2 and you would get good promotion from it. I can still try to get a little more going here, but the problem is content, it seems it has been washed out of blogging.

If you do spot any themes ok for interior design let me know, something sleek, and that everything works, or has good features etc. Color schemes could be green, red, orange, etc, preferrably green, or a lighter neutral, but anyway just be on the lookout.

That is pretty much all I have to say, and questions or comments I am still right here and I’ll be available if you need any help too.

Green Flamingo Update

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 23-03-2009

Green Flamingo is still getting better, and is moving along in the direction I want it to. I promised a little update before we got into niche blogging, and this is it.

This month of March I have done better posting on a regular basis, though I only really have time on weekends I still hope to improve that.

If any one is an old visitor from the summer, you will notice I have my old RedWhite theme back. I still like the theme and think it fits the blog, though I may end up changing it again f I find one better. It is just good to use this one for now because it has already been tweaked and optimized for the blog, and at this stage I do not have time to optimize many new themes.

Apparently there was a pagerank update not too long ago, and I gained pagerank. Sadly last month I dropped to PR1, but now I am back at PR2 and I hope to continue on my way back to PR3.

More blogs seem to be going away, or at least of the ones I read. Big Ben Patton’s Place is not discontinued, but it is now Real Blogging Tips and Ben no longer posts there. It is run by Forest Parks, who actually did the design for Ben’s site, so because he is “local” it is not so bad. Ironblogger is going up for auction now, which is sad to me because it was doing really well with a killer title and  a great theme. Even though new blogs are starting up, these ones that I read are not going on. They seem to be the ones from Blog Premiere, and some old friends from The University Kid, when we all clanned together to make TUK big and start up Blog Premiere as one of the hottest blogging forums.

About Big Ben Patton’s or Real Blogging Tips, I put in a guest post there, it is not publiushed yet and will not be for a few days but you can stay tuned.

That is pretty much all I have for the update, I guess I’ll be back soon with something on niche blogging.

Niche Blogging

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 21-03-2009

I am sure you have read up a little bit about the different niches, and what they, how hard they are etc, and here on Green Flamingo I think it is time that I write a little about that. Over the next few days I will be working on a few niche blogging posts, and some weekly updates.

Also I am doing a guest post, I’ll let you know when it’s published. Sorry I could not do more, kind of held up on othet things, but I’ll be back soon.

Just Keep At It

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 17-03-2009

Well I have had a little trouble this week keeping up posting. Fortunately I am putting out this post, though not at a very good time. Yesterday I did not really need to put out a post, but this was my goal for today. I will deliver the original post tomorrow, but right now, I have a message:

Just keep going, keep at it. Just face the challenges before you, and basically get through them and continue. I have almost no time left now, but I am still putting out a short post. That is my first step of overcoming the procrastination challenge, and I hope you can go through any challenges tha you face.

5 Best Current Bloggers

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 15-03-2009

We all get tired. We all get tired of blogging sometimes too. But then there are those who stick to the program no matter what. In people, you might say those are the soldiers. In blogging, you might say those are the people I am about to talk about.

1. Techtreak

2. Im With Joe

3. The Net Fool

4. DatMoney

5. Greatest Reviews

These five sites I listed have all worked long and hard to continue blogging, and are really outstanding.

These five blogs are ones I often follow and participate in, and they hit it well in this kind of blogging. No, they are not A-list bloggers, that would be unfair to count them, but these blogs have really done well and come far lately, in rough times when blogging has not been easy.

Techtreak has been going on a long time, I was first introduced to the site and the owner Narendra through BlogPremiere forum, like many of my other favourite blogs. Lately, posts have not been super close together, but they have been consistent, and also the website is great, interactive, and I think the theme really hits the numbers.

Im With Joe I have reallt enjoyed reading – or watching essentially – all the great content. Again, I wouldn’t say the posts have been alomost everyday, but they are fairly consistent, and also, they are videos, which make them even better. Helpful tools are presented in mst posts, which is really something unique and somethin I like, they really are good products that are extremely helpful and can benefit your blogging.

The Net Fool has been a big hit for a while, and still continues to get some love for the day to day trends. The Net Fool was probably one of the first to start the traditional Sunday Link Love, and has been keeping that going for over a year now if I am not mistaken. Also the posts are helpful, the typical posts helping you make money online which makes the net fool another great resource.

Datmoney was also a big hit, not only for the great banner designs but also for the PR4 google pagerank. Even though it now stands at PR2, then it still continues to provide good content on a wel established background.

Greatest Reviews has caught my attention for originality, there is not as much outsourcing of work, and everything seems to be spread well. Part of the theme were made by the owner, and it really seems to have come a long way. The reader base is rising, and the content still seems to be popular among other bloggers, which makes it a go.

So I am happy I could share with you some great working sites, all of them have progressed well in these difficult times, and it is a great moment to reward them for hard work.

Good luck to the rest of the blogosphere!

Unscheduled Scheduling

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in about blogging | Posted on 14-03-2009

I am sure many of you have noticed, part of the problem I have with this blog is the posting frequency. It happens that I am very motiviated on the weekends, I get many good ideas, and I am ready for the whole week.

Then the week comes and I do not have time to blog, time to get anything out there. I try, and it stays in the back of my mind, but I always put it off, and therefore get nothing done.

You might wonder why it is such a big deal that I can only post on weekends, not on weekdays, but it is because all the other posts go out on weekdays. Most people are busy on weekends and they go places – I do to, but I still have more time overall than I do on weekdays. So if I do not post when others are here blogging, they might not see my post and no traffic will come. At all. So that is my problem.

So I know I have to write more, I will see how it goes this next week.

What Do You Do When The World Is Still

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Blogging, about blogging | Posted on 07-03-2009

Earlier today, I woke up at five o’clock, and I decided that I would blog when I got up in the morning. However, I had to realize again when I woke up, that the other bloggers are not active, and really there won’t be much for me to do. In this case, it makes it hard for my world to go round, of good things and bad things, and I end up extremely bored with nothing to do.

This seems to be one of the biggest problems blogging has faced, everybody is tired and nothing is happening. It is just like the economy of the US, if consumers don’t buy because they don’t want to risk the money, then businesses will go bankrupt and there will be a broken country. It is the same within blogging. Nobody blogs, so the motive to continue is low, and the profits of continuing are even lower, which hurts everyone.

Over the summer I used to be able to see action online all day, everywhere it was bustling with competition, and even though I did not win, I got by, and I liked it. I could keep going on and I would always improve, keeping that hope that there was still room for success. But now that the blogging world is empty, then I am suffering, and I cannot keep on much longer.

I wish that an effort could be made to bring blogging back to life, because that is where it is fun, and how everyone continues to prosper. But now it seems like it is all at rest, and nothing can happen.

If you are asking me what can be done about this, I just have to tell you that you can’t control what other bloggers do, and what they have time for, and that you will just have to be patient sometimes. I do understand that is it a weekend, and blogging is not super busy on weekends, but still it shouldn’t feel like a graveyard.

I am just hoping that things will come out successful again and everyone will continue to prosper like before.

Your Own Streak Of Creativity

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Blogging, about blogging, motivation and inspiration | Posted on 06-03-2009

In your website, please please please do not be bland, and do not act like everybody else. It is not that I hate that, but I would there be diversity in all the blogs. Sometimes your website just needs that “piece of you” to be so great. Just the small unique detail that is like a texture on a fabric.

Your own piece of you could be almost anything on your blog. It could be your great writing style, pictures, a complex theme, a simplistic theme, a creative essence, a signature, and widget, a chatbox – what ever you want. What ever is needed, just be you.

I know you are told all the time that you should follow how a blogger does this, or how another person does that, and down to the very bone you could be the same website with different skin on the outside. And I know, you think you should be following all the things the millions of other bloggers taught you, not what I am telling you right now, but think about it.

I am assuming you spent at least 5 seconds of your busy blogging life thinking. And maybe you realized that you can do both. You can follow all the special steps you have learned, for they are important too, and I have used many techniques other bloggers have taught me. But you can also be creative, and add that little piece of you, so that you know that what is created from your hands is yours, no matter who you give it to.
