Back Home

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Auto Blogging, Blogging, Daily ramblings, Travels | Posted on 20-08-2009

I have to say, usually from a vacation, I am glad to be back home again, to a normal life, and not worrying about much. But not this time sadly. I still wish I was in Washington, and not in Pennsylvania. I came back to a messy house and a lot of work.

The flight yesterday was ok, watched a movie and did have something to eat. We got in late local time, about 11:30. Though it was only 8:30 Washington time, I was still very tired.

It took me a while to get used to the humidity here in Pennsylvania and live it, but now is it horrible. My bike is too small and there aren’t that many great places to ride, so it will be a little different outdoors.

Anyway, if I look on the bright side, I can STILL blog about cars, and also places I would like to be and travel too. Though my time is cut down a little I will still be able to manage.

So I will start with the cars here in PA compared to Washington.

Pennsylvania – Not many people here have what I would call a good car. In autoblogging terms you might almost call them clunkers. Since there are no supercars here or anything, you may wonder if there are a lot of hybrids, and everyone here is very environmental. The answer to that is NO. There are a lot of  Toyotas, but not prius. There are a few decent cars here, an occasional Audi A8 maybe, BMW, and next door they have two Mustang GTs, but overall not that great.

Washington – In Washington I would say there is a variety of cars. There are a lot of hybrids, people are environmental there, and there are many good cars there too. I had a few listed in previous posts but to sum it up I saw a lot of good Audi’s, BMW’s, Mercedes Benz, Porsche’s, etc.

Well that about does it for me tonight, I am a bit tired still from my flight, But I’ll be back again soon, and this post also sums up my vacation pretty much.

It Keeps Happening Like This

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Daily ramblings | Posted on 06-06-2009

Well, here I am again, trying to make a comeback? Not exactly, but I still want to keep a few people updated. I took a break, over the entire month of May you could say, but it feels almost longer, like all spring I have not written. I needed a break too, it was just too stressful to try to keep working, but when I would read my emails coming in from blogging resources I did not even have time to pay attention to some of those, so I pretty much dropped out of blogging.

I am like an ex-spy or agent, who must get back into the business, but so many new things have happened, new technology, new resources, new people, everything would be unfamiliar, and the only thing still good are the skills, hopefully not outdated. So by no means am I going to try to make this blog up and running again, but I am still going to try to carry out plans with green flamingo designs. I will try to keep everyone posted, and see what I can do about this blog, but I think I have run out of content for the blogging tips niche, because I have not beeen around to find new tips, so I cannot possibly pass them on to others.

I will still keep myself updated on new blogging tools, so I can use in other niches I pursue, and hopefully they will come in handy.

For now I’m back, but maybe not forever.

The World Changes, Life Changes, Blogging Changes

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Blogging, channeling/knowledge input | Posted on 10-02-2009

It can be agreed on by many that what everyone and everything need is change. But this is an opinion that can be pulled to either side, and the battle can rage on so long, that winners won’t prevail within the first match.

The world is changing, with the global climate escalating, and with the change of the overall well being of the earth, the world transformation becomes very apparent, and has much attention paid to it.

People are changing, the way they act, the things they do, the things they have, and their minds think new thoughts all the time. The rest of life changes in the same way, it expands, and develops new things.

And of course the world of blogging changes with everything else, what is blogged about, and what goes on in the blogosphere.

I have talked about change before. I am sure many others have as well. We all live by the concept of “change” and nothing can be done about that.

Many things happen through this transformation. The American president was elected for hope of change. New ideas circulate, new ways and behaviours circulate, new structures and physical beings circulate. Their is no determining whether change it good or bad. It just happens. And it has to be accepted that change just happens, nothing can prevent that.

Why Change IS Important To You

With everything around you changing, you have to make a transformation of your own, and keep up with the others. Falling behind in a race means you have to work harder to catch up, and to stay with the flow. But though others change, an effort does not need to be made to change. Sometimes what you call “an effort to change” is just natural, and will work no matter what. You do not need to work hard to change, but do not work hard to stay the same either. Just let things pass you one by one, and when opportunity strikes, reply in your usual combat manner. You do not need to go out of the ordinary borderline.

Bottom Line: Change WILL come. You must accept change, and keep going.

Coming up: combat blogging

Planning Ahead – It Really Helps

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Blogging, Daily ramblings | Posted on 19-01-2009

Sometimes in blogging, and sometimes in life, you will learn that you have to plan ahead and look ahead.

  • If you know there is going to be a blizzard a few hours away, there are things you will have to plan for.
  • If you know your internet service will be terminated in a few hours you will have to plan ahead and work ahead just like for the blizzard.
  • If you buy food, charge your phone, make sure your heat works…
  • If you write posts, automate your ads, and check up on your emails…

…You should be good for a few situations thrown at you.

Last week I knew my mom was coming, and I had started up my blog again. A week ago I found out that there was but one internet connection here where we would be staying. However, I did not take enough time to plan ahead and write posts, to get my blog off the ground so that through this week it would glide smoothly on autopilot.

Early today it started snowing, as we set out to visit my older sister in her in a town near here. Little did we know at the time it would take us and hour to two to get back. We looked for something to eat, and drove 15 minutes in the direction of my real house to eat and ate at a pizzeria. After that, as we started back, we had to turn around and wait because we were slipping and sliding in a cruddy rental car that could not resist a little ice, and going up and down a few hills from there to here did not sound like a good plan. When we finally set out again, the route was slow, up and down the hills, for the little crappy drivers of Pennsylvania don’t know how the hell to drive in the snow. As we watched a pickup truck do fishtails in the snow and sat there for an hour waiting in the snow we realized we should have planned ahead a little.

Two fatal flaws can also make you realize that planning ahead is crucial to precision of whatever you do. Though it works to go with the flow, you also need to have some sort of plan.

So, though I could tell a few success stories about what planning ahead can do for you, but sometimes the negatives really show you what a power can do.

So for some motivation…

Get out there and make a schedule for yourself, plan out the next 5 posts you are going to write, make a goal for yourself that you can hard to live up to, instead of saying you will do what comes your way and only accomplish and overcome what falls in your path. It take more than that to be a success, it takes more to fulfill your life, and sometime you have to show that you know to live for yourself and that in some way, you can control whatever challenge is place before you.

Birthday Time!

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Daily ramblings, Holiday! Holiday!, Non-niche related | Posted on 15-01-2009

This post continues the “birthday time” trend set over a year ago on Green Flamingo. Today is my younger sister’s birthday, and she goes from 8 to 9. It is cool how you can always look at the year and know her age, for she was born on the millennium.

2008 has been a great year for her, she has really changed from who she was a year ago. She has new friends, acts differently, and has different interests. I think this will be another great year, we’ll she what it brings her!

We are having a little celebration in our cottage we are staying at for a week. Over the weekend she had a party, and saw all her friends, so today is a little more low-key. But there is nothing that can stop her from having a special feeling about her birthday.

Missed Holidays

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Daily ramblings, Holiday! Holiday!, Non-niche related, Travels | Posted on 15-01-2009

In December, when I was not really blogging, then there were some holidays this blog skipped hearing about, but I will mention them now because today is a holiday for me and our family. The first of those holidays was my birthday, which means now I am 13, and of course my “about” page is incorrect (new edition coming soon: under construction). To give a quick recap, I had a great time. I got a haircut, (for my hair was getting long), I saw the movie “Yes Man” with my friend, and I got some great presents. I was sick during that week however, but I felt better then, plus school was canceled due to snow on my birthday which I felt happy about.

The second holiday was Christmas, which I also enjoyed. Though I thought we might not have such a great time as a family, we did anyway.

I did cover New Years briefly, and on New Years day we traveled to Washington DC.

So I think that says it all! Happy belated holidays!

Style

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Daily ramblings, Travels | Posted on 11-01-2009

In this world many things revolve around style, no matter where, when, and how it takes place. At the moment I am talking about cities that have style. Last week, I went on a little vacation…

To Washington DC, capitol of the United States. We were only a few hours away, and on New Years Day we set out on our journey.

What appears to be the style that stands out the most is the authenticity of the city, as a capitol, with grand buildings, though the “style” of those buildings seems old. But really, the city is quite modernized.

So our first day there we saw the Smithsonian museums, and later resided for the night at Andrews airforce base. The day we visited the zoo, the natural history museum, and then we went back to our now upgraded sweet at the base. And Saturday was our day of walking around, looking at monuments and memorials, before heading back home.

Now, even with all of that combined, I think the real reason we went was for the food, and the style. I will talk of our dining experience.

The first night we ate at a quaint little french restaurant in  george town, called La Madeline, which you may have heard of, and I had a very good chicken crepe, which was topped off with a sacher torte. The next morning we ate at IHOP, but for that chain they did well. In the evening we visited Union Station’s Pizzeria Uno, and enjoyed some of their deepdish pizza specialty. And Saturday night we ate at cracker barrel, and I had some spicy grilled catfish.

Now, the restaurants may not sound too exotic, and they were not, but the setting some restaurants had was great.

So really the style of food and dining is important everyone, and if you are in a place that distinguishes that style you are in good shape.

1 Year And 5 Days

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Competition, channeling/knowledge input | Posted on 15-10-2008

It has been exactly 1 year and 5 days since this blog, Green Flamingo was born. To me it is like a birthday, and I hope that Green Flamingo will have many more birthdays.

I have done some things to celebrate this event, because just like many others I will celebrate for birthdays.

First I have changed my theme back to what is was, what is was a year ago. I still love the theme, and I love my blog, so I seem to be crawling back into the state of mind I was in last year, though I have still expanded and I have learned the true ways of blogging through my year of experience.

I also am going to reflect on this blog, looking back on it. From my perspective right now, I have grown with this blog and it has grown with me, and together we have overcome hardships and rejoiced through progress. I remember a year ago my circumstances, my being, how I lived, how I was. I look back upon this to reflect who I was and who this blog was, and I am proud yet sad of the change that has passed.

Lastly I have decided to hold a little “contest,” though it is not of the normal sort as you will find now on about every blog in the blogosphere. I will tell people about my contest, though I will not exactly promote it, neither will any of the objectives to win include you promoting this blog.

It is called Green Flamingo’s Celebration Of Themes contest. Details will follow, and it is easy to participate in. As far as prizes go, I will give out small prizes, though I am not going to announce anything before hand. I hope that the winner of our celebration enjoys being honored too.

So, for one week we will celebrate the birthday of Green Flamingo, though we may carry the contest a little farther. I hope that you can look deeply into this blog to see why it is still up and running after a year.

So just stay tuned, there is no need to put on anything special, though try as much celebrating as you can. Believe it or not, everything has already started, and the contest begins right now!

Good night everyone, and I hope to see you in the near future.

Surprise Pagerank!

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Blogging Tips, Daily ramblings | Posted on 04-10-2008

I am very happy to say that there was a pagerank update, and I am at PR3! I am back!

In August, after the Pagerank update then, I worked very hard to get myself back to PR3 as I had been in July and for many months before that.

I am very happy that I was able to increase my PR so I do not have to feel bad about it and also I can feel like my normal self.

This really helps my blogging spirit!

The Green Flamingo Of Destiny

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Daily ramblings, about blogging, channeling/knowledge input | Posted on 23-09-2008

Yet again I write, yet again I realize. Yet again I think, ponder, act. Yet I do not always inform, or finish what I act upon.

For months Green Flamingo has held strong, and has grown just as a child would. We have all grown with it in some way too.

Green Flamingo’s voice has been silent over the past few weeks, but is ready to speak up again and be known to the world as a brave website with character and endurance.

Now I might want to word things in words you can understand. I know I have been out for 3 weeks, but I am not going to apologize and explain everything that went on. I just want to thank you, my readers.

I want to thank all of you for staying subscribed, I really appreciate that you think of this blog when you browse the Internet.

I also want to thank you for staying as active as you can, though it is hard if I do not post.

Today, this day, is September 23rd, the first full day of Fall. To me this signifies the time of my summer being over, and a new season beginning and I will rise in my efforts.

The most important saying I have though for you is:

“Forget the past, browse the future, and focus on the present.”

Those words will explain to you the meaning of this post, the meaning of my words, and the meaning of you and me becoming new people.
