It Keeps Happening Like This

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Daily ramblings | Posted on 06-06-2009

Well, here I am again, trying to make a comeback? Not exactly, but I still want to keep a few people updated. I took a break, over the entire month of May you could say, but it feels almost longer, like all spring I have not written. I needed a break too, it was just too stressful to try to keep working, but when I would read my emails coming in from blogging resources I did not even have time to pay attention to some of those, so I pretty much dropped out of blogging.

I am like an ex-spy or agent, who must get back into the business, but so many new things have happened, new technology, new resources, new people, everything would be unfamiliar, and the only thing still good are the skills, hopefully not outdated. So by no means am I going to try to make this blog up and running again, but I am still going to try to carry out plans with green flamingo designs. I will try to keep everyone posted, and see what I can do about this blog, but I think I have run out of content for the blogging tips niche, because I have not beeen around to find new tips, so I cannot possibly pass them on to others.

I will still keep myself updated on new blogging tools, so I can use in other niches I pursue, and hopefully they will come in handy.

For now I’m back, but maybe not forever.

5 Steps To Get Back To Blogging

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Blogging, Blogging Tips, about blogging | Posted on 16-01-2009

Getting Back To Blogging

I know that many bloggers have to postpone blogging career, but then often they wish to come back. This could turn out to be a little hard if they are not up to date or  do not seem cut out for more blogging. I know there are a fair amount that have this desire, and I hope I can help.

Section 1: pre-launch                                                                                                                      1.  1. One of the first things you want to do is to figure out why you couldn’t blog before, and fix that  problem. It could be because of time, content, stress, or any other reason that would prevent you from being able to blog on a normal schedule.

If it is due to a time problem, you might want to free time or “shape” the time that you have to make room for blogging. Because if you don’t have time, then there is really no way you can get all the necessary pieces to keep the blog running.                                                                              Regardless of the reason, you still need a solution. For some of you, this might be the hard part, but there is always a time to take the jump and go.

2. The next thing you need to do is optimize your theme and clarify the stature of your blog. The first part of this of course, is to find a theme that is up to date, and a style that is up to date. You can quickly check on other sites similar to yours as samples if you need some.                                          If you continue with your previous theme, and think it is up to date and modern, there is not much to be done. When finding a new theme, then you should make sure the title is yours and the RSS section directs readers to your feed. Other optimizations such as added promotions, gadgets, colors, site statistics, etc. can be added to your theme as well.

Once that is complete then you should clarify your previous content, organize posts, categories and tags, edit pages, so that your blog is current and ready for the public.

3. The third thing you should do is to write new content, as far as posts and pages. You do not need to wait a week before your new launch, but you should have one or two posts that are current for your readers to browse as they visit. The posts should be modern ideas and helpful information, probably not a “sorry I left but I’m back” 100 word post that you scrambled up in 10 minutes, but more like a half hour long, well written, well composed post that is thorough and new, showing readers that you care, and making then want to come back. It could also be thoughtful, and display some sort of message, if informative is not your type.

Section 2

4. Now it is time to relaunch your reborn blog! If you do not have a huge launch plan set up, then there are simpler ways to get your site back on the market. The way I like best if to visit other’s blogs and leave lots of comments. First of all, by reading your colleagues post’s, then you learn what is going on, more news, and if you have previously established a name for yourself the chances of recognition will be higher. You can travel to old sites, new sites, different sites and blue sites. All kinds of places you can promote the relaunch of your blog by just leaving a peace of your mind.                                                                                      If you feel like going all out, then you can throw in advertising, forum activity, and other ways of promoting your site, but really you only need to comment and your blog will start to grow back.

5. Now that you have gotten traffic back to your site, my last piece of advice is to keep up the blog, which like the first step, in solely your effort. You can make it grow bigger and bigger, and if you make money with it then you can hook up your programs and make money again once your site gets popular. So if you are able to post consistently, and visit others sites consistently, as well as leaving time for new things, then I think your blogging career will be very well back on track.

The Green Flamingo Of Destiny

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Daily ramblings, about blogging, channeling/knowledge input | Posted on 23-09-2008

Yet again I write, yet again I realize. Yet again I think, ponder, act. Yet I do not always inform, or finish what I act upon.

For months Green Flamingo has held strong, and has grown just as a child would. We have all grown with it in some way too.

Green Flamingo’s voice has been silent over the past few weeks, but is ready to speak up again and be known to the world as a brave website with character and endurance.

Now I might want to word things in words you can understand. I know I have been out for 3 weeks, but I am not going to apologize and explain everything that went on. I just want to thank you, my readers.

I want to thank all of you for staying subscribed, I really appreciate that you think of this blog when you browse the Internet.

I also want to thank you for staying as active as you can, though it is hard if I do not post.

Today, this day, is September 23rd, the first full day of Fall. To me this signifies the time of my summer being over, and a new season beginning and I will rise in my efforts.

The most important saying I have though for you is:

“Forget the past, browse the future, and focus on the present.”

Those words will explain to you the meaning of this post, the meaning of my words, and the meaning of you and me becoming new people.

Updates and Events

I have some tidbits about this blog to share, and me in general that I want to share.

1. I have started a new site, which seems to be coming along nicely. I am not sure how it will end up, whether I keep it or sell it, but the content is really unique. Only a few people know about this site, and I am going to keep it closed for now. You may hear about it and visit, not knowing it has any relation to me. Also, it is run by an unexpected thing, or the content at least! (Not all the editing and theme work, I have to devote a few hours to that every day).

2. I am having a new theme done for Green Flamingo Designs, and having a re Grand Opening! I am not going to tell you too much about the theme yet, it is sort of a surprise. I am going to say their are going to be new services coming out, free products and discounts! So stay tuned! I anyone would like to help to set up the re Grand Opening and get a very special discount of their own, it would be greatly appreciated. Just contact at greenflamingodesigns (@) gmail.com.

3. Green Flamingo has new bonus features for email subscribers! Every week one special email subscriber will be selected to get a 200+ review the next day! This will start Friday and the review will be published Saturday, so subscribe to stay tuned and win this! Hope you enjoy!

4. I am beginning to get a real sense in what goes on around me in the blogosphere, expanding my knowledge and really becoming a web “master.” I am also finding new ways to make money online, blog, and express myself.

5. I am loosely planning a contest for this blog, I have some interesting ways for you to gain points, probably never seen before, but I am still looking for some sponsors. If you would like to sponsor this flamingo contest, that would be great!

6. I have found some new techniques I have seen other bloggers do I would like to try. Look out for changes! (I should warn you, there will be a competition to see who can spot the most changes!).

Sorry I do not have any “real” content for you today, I have noticed some others do not either (maybe the university kid?). Tomorrow and for a little longer down the week I have some better content planned. I am still recovering from my site going down, so everything is not back to normal yet.

How I am Rolling

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 20-06-2008

I have decided to change what I do and how this blog runs a bit. I am just going to write what comes to me, and it may not be in the make money online niche. The only reason I joined the MMO niche was to gain more acceptance from the other MMO bloggers and social networking places. To back up this decision, I received some very good advice – that helped change the way things roll here.

Try writing for yourself, to please yourself for awhile and forget the stats.  If you aren’t pleasing yourself you aren’t pleasing your readers.  And no more apologies about not posting!!!  As far as your readers know you could be off on some super-secret mission.  No apologies, just post more if you feel bad about not posting.  Also don’t write about your lack of readers.  And proof your posts more…sometime spellcheck doesn’t catch everything.

Some of your strongest posts have been your reviews.  When you write about yourself it’s good too (use more paragraphing though).  And I heard that Twitter is a good way to build a blog following, but I don’t know how exactly.

Just read a LOT of blogs.  5-10 new ones every day.  Comment there with something funny or insightful or helpful, and then be sure you have great posts up on your blog for them to see when they check back.  I don’t know another way.  But it always does start with good writing, so please yourself with that.

So I thank Karen, from LightSpring Transformations, who is guiding you to your inner light. I am just going to blog and write how I want to, with the niche of new and helpful things, reviews, and so on. Those are where my best posts fall in, and the MMO will not be lost, but it won’t be the only niche that Green Flamingo is in. I will start of this new way with creating a new category called daily ramblings and post one there.

Firefox 3.0

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Technology | Posted on 18-06-2008

Edit : From my another later post, declaring I like it better now.

Mozilla Firefox 3.0 – After my last post yesterday, I bet there were mixed thoughts on Firefox 3.0. But now I must assure you to download it. I am not going to delete that post, for it showed my thoughts at the time, but I am going to tell you that it is fine.

  • The add-ons are now updated, and they are upgraded too. Some may still be behind, but I assume those will come soon.
  • Now that I have my Google Toolbar back, all customized, along with some other upgraded add-ons, I do not see the resemblance as much to the ugly-in-my-mind-Internet Explorer. This is a big bonus.

Yesterday was the download day of Mozilla Firefox 3.0! I did take place in fact, and I’m here to talk about it.

I am sorry I didn’t talk about this yesterday, but Photoshop was doing it’s thing and it didn’t want me to have any other programs running(though I did have AIM).

You can still download now! Just go right here!

Before you download though you may want to consider some of the things I have to say. I am not as happy with Firefox 3 as I could be.

-It is new and improved. Well how? It does look a bit newer, but it looks similar to something else I’ve seen before (cough-micro-cough-soft-cough).

-I don’t like that it looks like IE8. That really does bother me. Though the whole thing does not completely copy IE8, then there is some deep similarity.

-The biggest reason why I hate it so much is that the ffing google toolbar doesn’t work. I use that daily. It has my bookmarks, a link to gmail that tells me if I have new mail and so on and so forth. Losing Google Toolbar is a huge downfall on Firefox 3.

-I am helping Mozialla reach the goal – I helped to reach the world record, which I guess brings my spirit up about it.

- Final thoughts – my final thoughts on Firefox 3.0 is that is you are in for some losses but a sleek look, then go for it. You can’t be motivated my helping Mozilla for the yesterday is over.(I think it was on a 24 hour basis though, so if you hurry you might make it)

Packing Up

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Interior Design | Posted on 09-05-2008

I am packing up, well, in the process. Sometime at the beginning of summer I will be leaving the blogging house, or actually the blogging house will be leaving me. It is both sad and happy, good and bad. All of the designs I worked on for the past year and a half to two years will be gone, and sadly I will be living in a house that is cluttered, though I am trying to inspire the cleaning of it. (By the way, for people who are spying on me, ahummm, and thanks. I do know who you are). Now living with these people who won’t automatically clean on their own, won’t try to improve their living space, they shock me. I see they don’t care as much about their surroundings and how they affect them. I want to wipe all that junk right into a huge empty trashcan, jst take my hand and swipe it off. Seriously. If I was given a few thousand dollars and permission to throw anything away to give the house a makeover I would trash that shit and furniture and have something worthwhile living with. These particular two people that I live with think there is a value in everything, and there is and they are right, but sadly this thinking of theirs also means they will keep all those things they feel have a value, and then the house will become a junkyard. (Thanks again for spying, I really appreciate it). So, back to cleanin and packing up.

I am packing all my things, starting with some of my closet things, and then eventually will come books, toys, and so on. Now, at my destination, I think I might even switch rooms, and have the room I have here (same house layout, funny eh?). In that case, things might work for me. Over at the non-blogging house, my destination, I will have to move the legos into a concentrated area instead of having them eat up the whole floor. Work has begun on this. Also, if I am going to switch rooms with my sister, then she will have to cooperate (I haven’t addressed the idea yet, I thought of it a few minutes ago and I don’t want to interrupt my writing), and have her move all of her stuff, and besides the cooperation that may be hard, especially because of her big fat dresser (we might not keep that though, it is scratched up, and was my older sister’s before, but we may sell it). I am using a lot of commas!(like you haven’t noticed). And a lot of parentheses! (Did you see that coming either, huh? Huh?). So their I will have to do something with my bed, because I have taken on to a low bed now. I will keep most of the things I had at the blogging house, because those are the things I like and have lived with, and I want my spirit to live on and not to be sucked into a world of hopelessness where I cannot clean anything, instead I will have one room at least that is clean and uncluttered, even if mission-the-rest-of-the-house fails. Those are my plans. So wish me luck on my mission, I will see if I can complete it, and complete it at that with the serenity of a jedi knight, though that will be very hard to accomplish.

Interior Designing: Do You Have The Skills?

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Business, Interior Design | Posted on 27-04-2008

As some of you may know, I am starting an interior design business and site, which will have many features. Before I start the site I am doing research on how I want it to look to know exactly what programs to use and other things of the sort. I have a little sketch of how I want the dropdown menu bar to look, how that will be organized. In my research, I am looking on how interior design websites are structured and what components they have. The basic look of most is very sleek, but plain. This reminds me of video of top design winner Matt who won topdesign on BravoTV.

In my research I came about a site that first asks you some questions. You check the category off if it applies to you. All of the categories applied to me. The categories were:

Do you have an interest in physical spaces? When you are in a space do you tend to take notice of your surroundings?

Do you frequently make suggestions on how to improve your home surroundings, or do you like to design or redesign your personal space?

Can you some day see yourself as the person responsible for redesigning the interior of your school, your favorite restaurant or nightspot, or a clothing store?

Are you creative or artistic?

Do you work well in teams to solve problems and overcome challenges?

I wonder if it is ironic that all the categories applied to me, but they did. I may be made to be a designer. Do you have what it takes? Go on to the button down there that says, “click here” and read more about interior designing. There are other helpful pages on that site and that is why I bookmarked it. I am on the long path to victory.

Wordpress 2.5

Posted by Nathaniel | Posted in Reviews, Technology | Posted on 30-03-2008

Wordpress 2.5 was supposedly released 1 day ago, or yesterday, and the chances of me looking to see what new things were added were very low. But I did. When I attempted to download it, and when it was done, I didn’t notice much change. The new version of wp has been worked on for six months and even has full screen editing. Click here for the original post by Matt.

Some new features of Word-press 2.5:

The dashboard is said to have been cleared some, the things that were thought most important were the only ones kept. The dashboard also carries handy widgets.

You can now upload a whole load of something, instead of doing it the painful way of waiting and never knowing how long it will take, and the worst part, having to do it one at a time. With wordpress 2.5 you can do more than one upload at a time and watch the progress of each one.

Then of course there are the basic upgrades, really great I’d say. Better searching, tag management, a password strength meter, all those are nice features.

For multi-user blogs, wp automatically locks the autosave when someone else is writing so that they don’t overwrite each other and you lose hours of work.

Now some of the upgrades you have to take a while to download and install will automatically download and install themselves, though if you don’t want something then you can stop it from doing that.

For the photo thing, you can now have people comment on individual pictures.

After this it is mostly developer features, such as salted passwords and secure cookies. Things to keep it safe.

I think that this is a great wordpress update. I think it will prosper especially since the version 2.3 has already had 1.92 million downloads. Wordpress 2.5 is claimed to be a major milestone. And actually I do know how to get it working. You may want to read these upgrade instructions. I hope you enjoy!

Hi, this is me, Nathaniel,in this blog I’m hoping to write about many different topics (though it may narrow down to one after a while) and write posts that you will enjoy. Here I will explain one category I want to create. I’ll call it channeling/knowledge input. Here I’ll share insights that I have (for you personally ones too) and give you some things to think about. If you have any questions just leave me a comment.
